Our story
NordX Adventures is, at its core, a small family project. My sister and I grew up travelling, discovering different cultures, landscapes and ways of life from an early age. Over time, it became clear that these experiences would shape the direction we wanted to take.
The Nordic regions quickly became a big part of that journey. There was something about these places that kept drawing us back: the silence, the scale, and the feeling of being completely immersed in nature. We started working as guides, first in Iceland on glaciers, and later in Finnish Lapland. Season after season, we learned the terrain, the weather and, just as importantly, what makes a great experience out here.
We also realised that the kind of experience we wanted to create wasn't always easy to find. Large groups, fixed itineraries and repetitive routes can make it difficult to really connect with a place. So we decided to build something of our own.
NordX is our way of sharing the places we love: small groups, flexible adventures and a more personal approach to guiding. We don't want to simply take people from one viewpoint to another. We want to give them the time and space to experience the landscape for themselves. That's what NordX Adventures is built around.
Why Ylläs
We could guide in many places in Lapland. We chose Ylläs because it gives us something we value: space.
Ylläs sits beside Pallas–Yllästunturi National Park, with open fells, snow-covered forests and frozen lakes surrounding two small villages with a strong outdoor culture. There are hundreds of kilometres of trails, but also plenty of places where you can leave them behind and feel properly immersed in the landscape.
For us, that's what makes Ylläs special.
We don't want every day to follow the same route. We look at the snow, the weather and the group in front of us, then decide where to go. Sometimes that's a summit and a big view. Sometimes it's a quiet forest, a frozen lake or a fire in a kota.
Ylläs gives us the space to keep things flexible, personal and connected to the landscape, and that's exactly how we want to guide.
