Program flow
The days below show the shape of the journey. Weather and snow conditions still guide the exact line on the ground.
Upon arrival, your guide will meet you at the airport and take you to your chalet. Settle in, enjoy dinner and start getting a feel for life in Lapland.
Today, we'll head out into the snowy forests with a team of huskies. After learning the basics of driving your own sled, we'll set off along quiet trails through the winter landscape, with the dogs leading the way. After the tour, we'll head to a beautiful lakeside sauna and enjoy one of Finland's great winter traditions. Warm up by the stove, then step outside into the crisp Arctic air. If you feel like it, you can try avanto (taking a quick dip in the icy lake) or roll in the snow before heading back inside. Or simply stay warm, relax and enjoy the sauna and the peaceful surroundings.

A small-group experience with time to explore, discover and enjoy Ylläs beyond the main activities. And on your final full day, the choice is yours.
Today is a full day on snowmobiles, exploring the winter landscapes around Ylläs. After a short introduction and safety briefing, we'll leave the village behind and follow snowy trails through the taiga, passing through silent forests and open landscapes. We'll stop along the way for a traditional lunch at a local restaurant, before heading back out to explore more of the winter wilderness. With several hours on the trail, it's a full day of riding, exploring and taking in the scale of Lapland.
Today, we'll head into the snowy forests and fell landscapes around Ylläs on snowshoes. The trail takes us through quiet boreal forest before climbing towards the top of the fell, where the trees open up and wide panoramic views stretch across the surrounding winter landscape. We'll take our time along the way, stopping to enjoy the scenery and the silence of the forest before making our way back down. After the hike, we'll stop at a traditional local café for something warm before returning to the chalet.
The morning takes us to a local Sámi reindeer farm, where we'll meet the reindeer and learn more about reindeer herding and its place in Sámi life. You'll have the chance to get close to the animals and feed them while learning more about the traditions and everyday work behind reindeer herding. In the afternoon, we'll introduce you to cross-country skiing, one of the most important ways of moving through the Finnish winter. We'll start on very easy terrain, with your guide showing you the basics and helping you find your balance and rhythm before heading out onto the snowy trails.
Today, we'll explore Ylläs on an e-fatbike, using wide tyres designed to make riding on snow surprisingly easy. We'll follow snowy trails through the forests and surrounding landscapes, stopping along the way at a traditional kota. There, we'll light a fire, grill some sausages and take a break before continuing our ride through the winter landscape. In the afternoon, we'll visit SnowVillage, where snow and ice are transformed into an ever-changing world of sculptures, rooms and atmospheric spaces.
After a week of exploring Lapland in many different ways, today is yours to slow down and enjoy Ylläs at your own pace. Take the day to rest at the chalet, or choose an optional activity depending on what you feel like doing. You might spend the day skiing at Ylläs Ski Resort, wander through the village of Äkäslompolo, visit a local café or simply enjoy a quiet day in the snow. Your guide can help you plan the day and make the most of your last full day in Lapland.
